Christmas Day Menu 2008
Christmas Day is our Flagship day. It is a special day for us and our guests. We accomodate only one sitting, which begins with a champagne and canape reception at 12 noon. This is followed by a visit to Santa for the ladies and the children, from where your family will be escorted to your table to enjoy a leisurely six course meal. Wine flows throughout, as will soft drinks for the children. Liquers are served with coffee. Cigars, to be taken on the pergola by the log fire, are offered to the gentlmen. We ask our guests to inform us of their Christmas feast choices and settle their bill in advance of the day so that they might simply arrive and enjoy the day with the minimum of inconvenience. Many of our guests return year upon year for this very popular event so please be sure to book your table early.
To BEGIN....
Arrive at 12noon to be greeted by your hosts with chilled champagne and oven baked canapés
Father Christmas arrives with gifts for the children and ladies
You will then be escorted to your table for your Christmas Day Feast.....
To APPETISE..... Roasted Shallot and Walnut Soup Melon bowl filled with fresh fruits glazed with Malibu Portobello Mushrooms stuffed with duck pate, pan fried in a garlic and Rosemary infused oil Chicken, avocado and mango medley with a lime and jalapeno dressing, sprinkled with cashew nuts Goose Livers flambéed in Glenmorangie and wholegrain mustard finished with cream
To FOLLOW..... Wild Organic Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on a toasted muffin garnished with Fresh Chives and a shot of Vodka Asparagus and Crayfish on a bed of leaves, drizzled with a watercress and lemon dressing King Scallops simply pan fried with Spring Onions, Garlic and Ginger Sushi with an Oriental Salad and Soy Sauce Traditional Favourite, Prawn Cocktail
TO REFRESH THE PALATE..... Frosted Blackcurrant Sorbet garnished with a Pear wafer
FOR MAIN COURSE.....
ROAST DERBYSHIRE TURKEY hand carved, served with chipolatas and Cranberry & Chestnut Stuffing
ROAST BLUEBERRY DUCK Duck Breast served with a Blueberry and Bombay Sapphire sauce, resting on a bed of stir fried noodles
BEEF MEDALLIONS Medallions of Fillet on a bed of Wild Mushrooms and fried Red Onions, topped with crispy strips of Prosciutto ham, napped with a White Stilton sauce
SWEET NOISETTES OF LAMB Grilled Noisettes of Lamb laid on cream of butternut squash, napped with a Strawberry and Whisky sauce
VENISON STEAK Venison Steak placed on an English apple potato rosti topped with a raspberry and Courvoisier sauce infused with dark chocolate
VEGETARIAN SELECTION AVAILABLE ON REQUEST
FOR DESSERT..... Desirable, delicately prepared desserts will be offered for your selection
to be followed by our Freshly Brewed Bean to Cup Coffee with cream and petit fours
